Speeding on Highway 1 (16 Ave.) Calgary
WOW, I am simply blown away (and so is my little car as a matter of fact). I live up in the N.W quadrant of Calgary city, and need to drive every morning from Stoney trail onto Highway 1 (16Ave.) to the Foothills hospital, where I work. Most times I try and leave home around 7:00-7:30, this most times gets me stuck in a huge traffic jam, which extends all the way from the Stoney exit onto east bound Highway 1 all the way to Foothills hospital. Today I left home at 6:20, hoping to avoid the large jams. Well, I didnt get stuck in traffic, but was blown away by speedy drivers, isnt the speed limit on both Stoney Trail and Highway 1 80km/hr? Me and my little car were the only ones who were doing 80-85km/hr, all the other cars zoomed by at at least 100km/hr, or tailed close behind me to push me to go faster.
This didnt change once I had parked and was crossing the 3 intersections across Highway 1 to get to the Foothills hospital. I was almost run over twice by cars who didnt stop for pedestrians (guess they figured it was too early for people to be out walking), or they didnt care since it was too early for school kids to be out on the roads. All in all, I think I choose traffic jams over these speed demons. Naturally, all this while I am thinking, where are the traffic cops.. obviously.. its too early to issue a ticket!
